This is so far the only game I bought this year that was released this year. This is a unique release as it's the first Super Smash Bros. game to be released on two different systems at the same time (give or take a month). Since I can't afford a Wii U currently, I would not be able to play Smash 4. Luckily for me, I have my Ambassador 3DS so I can play the 3DS version of Smash 4. I have put in a total of 24 Hours of play time since buying the game on release day. If you like Smash Bros. Do yourself a favor and buy this game. It's handheld smash!
I don't understand how some people have trouble playing this game on the 3DS. I play it just fine, maybe some people are a bit too married to their Gamecube controller. I also don't understand how some people don't like the 3DS version and say the Wii U version will be better. Of course it's objectively better, it's on a bloody home console, not a handheld one. I look at it as the Wii U version being the main game and the 3DS version is just the side-game. The only complaint I have about the game is that Smash Run is very bland playing in single player mode. It's fun the first couple of times but it gets really repetitive the more times you play. I just wish that this game had an Adventure mode like Melee had. Overall, Smash 4 3DS is fun and feels like a full-fledged Smash Bros game.

SEGA Game Gear Game Cases |
Last month I bought 4 of these Game Gear cases. However I needed 5 of these cases to cover all of my Game Gear cases. So I went back to Retro Games Plus in October to buy that last missing case. While there I found another Game Gear game. So I had to buy a second case to cover the new game.

VR Troopers for SEGA Game Gear |
The game I bought was VR Troopers. For those who don't know, VR Troopers was a show made by Saban, who also made Big Bad Beetleborgs, Masked Rider, and Power Rangers. Just like those shows, VR Troopers uses footage from different japanese shows and dubs over it. What made VR Troopers different from the other shows is that it uses footage from multiple japanese shows. While VR Troopers never gained popularity like Power Rangers, it did have two video games based on the show. On both the SEGA Genesis and SEGA Game Gear. I owned the SEGA Genesis version since I was a kid so I'm glad I now own the other version.

WCW Nitro for PS1 |
On my journey to collect every WWE (WCW/ECW Also) game, I found WCW Nitro for the PS1. Early 3D wrestling games are definitely rough around the edges and that's no except with WCW Nitro. Not much to say other than I only need 2 more WCW games on the PS1 (WCW vs. The World, and WCW Backstage Assault).
|
Original PS1 Controller |
I have owned my PS1 late in it's life cycle. So the only PS1 controller I have owned was the Dual Shock controller. So I wanted to own one of the regular controllers without the analog sticks just for the novelty of owning it. So Retro Games Plus had one of the original controllers for only $2. Why not!

Ms.Pac-Man for SEGA Genesis |
I spotted this game last month when I was at Retro Games Plus. The only reason I bought this was because it was a boxed Genesis game for $3. That's the only reason. Also because it's freaking Ms.Pac-Man. One thing I noticed while testing out the game is that there is lag on when you press a direction to go. Like I have to hold the D-Pad down in the direction I want to turn. It's not smooth at all! At first I though my Genesis controller was broken but nope, it was just how the game is.

Xbox Component Cables (Not in Package) |
In an effort to improve the video quality of my retro consoles without breaking the bank (ie using SCART via converters), I bought some Xbox component cables. Now they are third party cables so I expected some less than stellar quality. While the picture quality is fine, the audio has a low buzzing noise when there is no other sound playing. It's very annoying! I looked it up online to see what the problem was and apparently the cables are made with no shielding. So the audio and video signals interfere with each other. Oh well, that's what you get for buying a cheap $10 third party cable.

Nintendo Game Boy Advance
Now I bought a different game than the one in this section. I originally bought WWF Royal Rumble for the SEGA Dreamcast. There's only two WWF games on the Dreamcast so I wanted to buy one of them to help me complete my WWE game collection. When I brought it home, the game would hang on the loading screen. When I bought the game, the game was put into the disc cleaner at Retro Games Plus. I looked at the disc and I couldn't find any deep scratches or anything. So I have no clue why the game didn't work.

Sonic Advance 3 for GBA |
So I went back to Retro Games Plus to return the game. Their return policy is that all returns are given as store credit. Which is fine, I was going to buy a different game anyways. So after returning the game (A value of $5), I found a GBA game, Sonic Advance 3. I have owned Sonic Advance 1 and 2 since I was a child, so I always wanted the third one to complete the trilogy. It was $10 but with the $5 store credit, I only paid $5. I know I technically still paid $10, but since I'm never getting that $5 back from the store credit, I only paid $5. Now only two more Sonic games for the GBA to have them all (Sonic Genesis and Sonic Pinball Party).
Sonic Advance 3 - Cost $10 ($5 Store Credit) - Value - $5 - Difference -$5
Alright, and that should do it! In total for the month of October, I got 5 games, 1 controller, 1 cable, and 2 game cases. While it's not the most fruitful month I had, I'm glad with what I got. Mostly stuff I needed (Xbox Component Cable, Game Gear Game Cases), or stuff that completes my collection some more (Sonic Advance 3, VR Troopers, WCW Nitro), or stuff I bought on an impulse (PS1 Controller, Ms.Pac-Man). Thank you for reading, and I hope you liked the new format of this post. Have a great day!
